Different type round cords for different applications This product is widely used as elastic, rubber cord, rubber bumpers, filler, to make O-rings and for decorative purposes. The solid round rubber cord also has a protective shock-absorbing function.
The cords of NBR quality are resistant to oils, greases, hydrocarbons and diluted acids. The cords have good mechanical properties, but have limited weather and ozone resistance. In addition, they are not resistant to aromatic compounds, halogenated hydrocarbons, car brake fluids or strong acids. The operating temperature is limited to 110°C.
Foam rubber profile The EPDM quality round cords are definitely recommended for outdoor use. The material guarantees a long life since it has high ozone and UV resistance. In addition, EPDM can be used at temperatures up to 135°C and is even suitable for use with a number of chemicals, acids and alkalis. EPDM is not resistant to oils and fats though.
The cords that are made of CR, also known as Neoprene, are the best all-rounder synthetic elastomer of all commercial rubbers. The maximum usage temperature is 110°C. Neoprene has a wide range of uses and has an average chemical resistance to many substances, including (sea)water, chemicals, diluted acids, solvents, mineral oils and fats. In addition, it has good weather and ozone resistance.
The Viton round cords are made of very high-quality fluorine-containing rubber and have good resistance to many chemicals, as well as most concentrated acids and alkalis. The material can be used at elevated temperatures, even up to 200°C. Viton, also known as FPM and FKM, has superior properties compared to other rubbers, especially where durability and chemical resistance are concerned.
Silicone round cords have relatively low mechanical properties, tensile strength and tear-resistant properties. Silicone rubber is smooth on both sides and has excellent temperature resistance up to 200°C. It remains flexible at low temperatures down to -70 ° C and is UV, ozone and weather resistant. The product has low flammability and produces little toxic smoke. The silicone rubber sheet has a hardness of +/- 60 Shore and a density of 1.25g/cm³. It therefore lends itself well for use at high temperatures. However, we advise against using it with high pressure steam. The resistance to oil and hydrocarbon products is fairly limited and similar to that of Neoprene rubber.
